radiowave treatment

I have heard of some podiatrists offering "radio wave" treatment for plantar fasciitis. Do you have any information on this treatment?

If you are talking about ESWT (shock wave) therapy, the research that I have done does not seem to be very helpful.

I had Shock Wave Therapy done on my feet and it actually made my feet worse. 8 days after the treatment I had to be put on anti-inflammatory meds because of the pain I was in after the therapy. I do not recommend this therapy.

I had this treatment done on Tues the 2nd of Dec 2008, let me tell you it is not fun and I came out definitely worse than when I went in.. almost think it cooked a plug of meat in my foot..went to see doc yest he removed a deep blister from one of the sites on my arch that he treated. asked if it felt better and I said no he gave a script for anti-biotics...put antibacterial ointment and a bandaid over blister opening.. I looked at it late last night and deep into the foot there is a big white spot in the center of which is the needle hole weeping thin blood(infection).. during treatment they numb the site with lidocaine then insert a thick guage needle with two tiny openings near the tip they insert(what I call the welding rod) a long sensor into the needle and test where exactly it is placed and nerve conduction then inject another cc of lidocaine into the same needle put the sensor back in and turn on the radio waves for a certain amount of time heats it up... I screamed like a girl and screamed some more.... was very bad... he did this in several areas around the heel needle very deep ... so I would think twice about this treatment...

I was also his lab rat his first patient to receive this treatment...with two techies walking him thru...

That sounds horrific! Do you know anything about platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections? My doctor is recommending and believes that it is quite successful. Online articles I could find are from 2006- I'm looking for more current info.

I have been on Feldene for over a week. It says it can cause drowsiness, but I have been literally exhausted all day, every day. I can't think, I can't work, sometimes it's difficult to walk because of the fasciitis and the fatigue. I am wondering if there exists a non-drowsy, anti inflammatory. I can't seem to find anything in my research. Has anybody found such a thing?

I have been researching radiofrequency and cryo- nerve ablation for PF. This site reports the only negative I've been able to find. I would like to hear from someone who had postive results from either technique. It is difficult to find any docs using these techniques. The ESWT treatment doesn't sound great either. 3 weeks on crutches? And 2 -3 mo. overall recovery? I've already given up 10 mo. of my life to this condition! Any input greatly appreciated!

I have heard ESWT is extremely painful and have opted to NOT go in this direction. I just heard about K laser treatments. I have been suffering from chronic PF for 3 years now. My life has revolved around the pain I have had to deal with EVERY SINGLE DAY. After only 2 treatments I have DEFINITELY noticed an improvement! I tried everything else including surgery (fasciotomy) and nothing has helped. My life slowly deteriorated. I was once an long distance runner and avid athlete. I never had any foot or ankle problems in all the years I was running. In 2006 I went into the Army and my feet were destroyed. I can not tell you how awful this condition has been for me. Unless another person has suffered from this it is hard to relay just how life altering this condition is. I am going in for my 3rd and 4th treatments this week. I will post my results on here this weekend. I highly recommend this treatment after only 2 visits when nothing else has brought me any relief. Keep your fingers crossed for my speedy recovery!
