PF connected to pain in hip area?

Postby BobS on Mon Dec 29, 2008 11:29 am

I believe I may have Plantar Fasciitis but I'm not sure. It's most noticeable getting out of bed in the morning ...when I first stand up I have a lot of pain in my left hip area and in the bottom of my left foot. It subsides as I start walking but comes back during the day particularly after sitting or driving for a while. The pain in my hip is more noticeable while in bed and the foot pain is more noticeable during the day. I walk two miles a day 5 days a week and have always had pronation problems with both feet. I also was fitted for orthotics and wore them until early this year after discovering they exacerbated arthritic pain in my knees. I would appreciate hearing from anyone with similar symptoms who may offer some advice. Thanks.

Hello! This is my first ever post. I saw your question, and I have an answer for you. I do believe that PF is conntected to pain in hip area because often, people who have PF are unknowingly adjusting their gait and in effect cause a burning senstation on the side of their hip, often considered to be sciatica.

Jimcity is correct. Anything you do to your feet, good or bad, will travel up to your back and hips. Proper foot support and good shoes are critical, but it make take you a few tries to find the ones that work for you. Don't exercise in shoes whose support has broken down, it's like begging on bended knees for trouble. Deep tissue muscle specific therapy with fascial release & MET should solve most of it.

I am doing a survey of people who have PF and their previous injuries to determine links. I hope to have it published. I would like to invite everyone to take it. my website is http://www.kaywarren.org, just go to the "contact me" page, and enter in your name, and city. In the "remarks" section, ask me to e-mail you the survey. I've been doing orthopedic massage for 24 years now, I promise, it's not hopeless.
