Rheumatoid arthritis and heel pain

Postby newapproach on Mon Feb 16, 2009 5:27 am

I have severe rheumatoid arthritis in my hands wrists and feet which has escalated since diagnosis, first in one hand following an infection picked up during surgery in 1999.The result is poor mobility as my feet swell with inflamation with my daytime attempts at walking,I cannot now walk any distance, standing in one spot,ie queueing is extremely painful,a scooter is needed to get around.I coped for a few years with hotter shoes with anti shock soles and velcro fastenings and an added gel insole. Is the a link with rheumatoid arthritis and plantar fasciitis ?,for months Ive been in agony with my right foot,by the end of the day the pain underneath my heel is unbearable and the ankle bone and right side of my foot is swollen, feels like trying to walk on broken bones.Any suggestions welcome,Im desperate to find comfortable footwear to maintain some mobility, cant hack a wheelchair, hopefully something available in the uk. :?:
