I have had PF once before, and after doing a few exercises, it went away.
I am not so fortunate this time around. : ( I am into this about by about six months,
or maybe more this time, and it simply is not going away. Nor is it getting better.
I ordered some implements for my shoes, and a foot support for night use, but it makes my
toes go to sleep, so it is not effective for me.
After reading this thread, I decided to order the Yoga Toes and I will be happy to let you know
whether they work for me. At least if they do not, I have a money back guarantee!

For Grandma whose grandson is home with PF, he probably did injure himself. Maybe he can try the
Yoga Toes too!

Ouchie,

Yoga toes have mixed review, stretching is good, but it takes a certain kind to really get the results. Go to my website and order the guide. www.kaywarren.org fill out the contact page and ask me for "Healing Plantar Fasciitis Without Surgery". It's free, and I so into detail about how it starts, how it works, and what you can do about it. I've been helping people with this for over 20 years now, and this will help you too.

Hi AnnieB,

When you say "boot" do you mean a night splint? My mother has been suffering with PF for almost two years now and we are debating about what to try next.

A night splint can be helpful, but by "boot" I mean those huge plastic things you wear instead of a traditional cast. Looks kind of like a ski boot. Get my guide, it's free, it will really help. http://www.kaywarren.org Depending on your mother's age and the condition of her skin, you may need to be extra careful. Another caution is diabetes. If your mother is 60 or over, has frail skin, and/or is diabetic, it would be advisable to have her see a professional. When you ask me for the guide, just fill in the city and state, and if I know someone in your area, I'll give you a reference. I'm in the process of certifying the professional level of this class for continuing education, and I'm hoping to have my own little army of therapists around the country who really know this.

I also have suffered with PF for quite some time now. We unfortunately were unable to keep our health insurance after my husband lost his job and ended up taking a 60% wage cut in his current position. Now I am having pain in my hip. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I think it is because I have begun to walk with most the weight on the outside of my foot. I take over the counter pain meds and have found that the walking shoes I bought seem to do the best. Has anyone else had other problems resulting from prolonged suffering from PF?

Anything you do to your feet will travel up and lodge in your hips and low back. This includes significant changes in gait. PF is definitely causes significant changes in gait. Get the protocol and use it.

I have had PF for 3 years. Almost every day is horrible, I used to be so active. Now I can't jog or even take long walks.
I have tried night splints, massage, stretching, special shoes, orthotic inserts, gel cups... The only thing that helps is ibuprofen.
Right now my foot is killing me. It started when I carried heavy equipment (broadcast camera and tripod) on my back all day covering a golf tournament for television.
The NCAA would not give me a cart. JERKS! The next morning I could hardly walk. It was unbelieveable. I don't see much hope, since it has been 3 years.
This lack of activity has caused me to gain weight, making it even worse. :>{
I wish you all the best.

I am very happy to have found this forum as I was starting to think I was a tad crazy. I have had PF for over the past year and it is amazing how much it can wear you down. I was running half-marathons when it development and the advice of my gp I stopped running as this apparantly was supposed to make it heel faster. Well, the only thing that happened was I gained weight which made it worse. I tried 6 months of PT and recently have been trying ART, which helps but relieve the greater pain for a little while but it always comes back.

UI went back to my GP recenetly as I had had enough, if it was going to hurt then I was going to give it a reason too. So I started back running (very easy and slowly) about a week ago. Only now the pain is much worse but the doctor did say that I would not do any serious damage it just would not heal. But my reasoning is that I need to lose the weight I have put on and frankly running keeps me sane. I ice, take Ibprophen and streching...I starting using the strassburg sock but have seen no difference in the morning yet.

One thing I have not tried is the cortisone shot, there seems to be mixed results from this. Some of you say it hurts...Is it the shot that hurts or the after affects.

Like many of you, i am tired of having PF run my life.

According to 75% of my patients the shot itself hurts like hell, and the pain lasts for 2-3 days. According to the other 25% the shot isn't too bad, but it takes a couple of days to kick in. The amount of relief varies, from zip (uncommon) to 18 months. Most seem to experience 6-9 months of relief, with a gradual return of symptoms. Subsequent cortisone shots seem to be less effective.

You're not nuts. My PF would be white knuckle & tears first thing in the morning. It was embarrassing. I was only 33, and I was hobbling like I was 90.

The injection did not hurt me at all. I had three of them (the max you can have). If they numb the area first, you should have no problems. The first injection lasted for a couple of months, the 2nd and 3rd not at all. I had no pain from the injections afterwards. I know a lot of people had good success with it though. I would definately try it!! I am one of the ones that had to result to surgery.

I have actually started to make some serious progress and actually have gone a few days without the severe pain. I am doing a number of things but think the largest factor was the use of Smart Feet, a sport orthodic insert that is over the counter. I put them in and within 2 days the pain started to diminish. now, I am still stretching and icing. I also started using the Foot Wheel ([url]/http://www.amazon.com/Foot-Wheel/dp/B0007YZ18U[url]) > A fellow sufferer told me to use the foot wheel several times a day even when it hurts to do so and I think that has helped a great deal as well. I am not sure which of these factors is helping or if it is a combo of them all but I feel hopeful for the first time in over a year. My doctor refused to consider the cortisone shot so I am very happy that everything else is starting to work.

Hi all I am new to this sight I have had pf for at least 2 years went through all of the traditional treatments the inflamation drugs the shots the shock therapy and now the physical therapy. The problem is I have pf in both feet along with heels spurs to many to count. The eswt seemed to help the left foot but my right foot is really in bad shape. I had the treatment back in december of 2008 and the pain in my right foot just won't quite. I just feel that my pain stops me from doing things I love to do. The doctor says he can do another round of the shock therapy at no additional cost to me. But I need to give it least a few more months. The initial cost to get both feet done was 3,500.00 and my insurance has denied me reimbursement to this date. I now have to appeal there decision. My next step if this doesn't take would be surgery which scares me but at this point I don't know how it feels not to be in pain every day of my life. This sight has been very helpful to me and any feedback on the surgery would be appreciated. How many weeks of recovery from surgery should I expect if I ever decide to go this route. Thanks for your time Joanne

This story could be me also. I have had this for over 4 years. First the left foot and now the right also. The stretching exercises do help some, but this week I have come home from work in excruciating pain. I have not tried acupunture, would like to hear your results from another treatment. Massage did not work for me.
My foot doctor prescribed physical therapy but it is not covered by my insurance and is very expensive.
Danskos did nothing for me and I could not wear them. Last night I put a cold pack on my feet and stretched and wore the night splints for as long as I could take them. Took a sleeping pill and finally went to sleep. I am not too bad this am but dread the day. As I have asked before has anyone tried the good feet inserts. Best of luck to you.
