ULTRASOUND GUIDED TREPHINATION PROCEDURE (NEW)

Postby tghostlaw on Thu May 28, 2009 1:16 pm

Everyone, I just had this procedure done by a orthopedic doctor in Falmouth, ME near Portland. It was worth the 7 hours trip. It is called an Ultrasound Guided Trephination Procedure which took just about 10 min. I've been virtually pain free every since it was done on May 15th. A little pain now and then but nothing like it was and the pain I get is very mild and not really where I hurt before. What he does is look at the fasca with an ultrasound, he looks for tears, scar tissue, etc. He measures it to see if you are a candidate for the procedure. If you are he performs it right then. The procedure itself was pain free, which to me was unbelieveable. He numbs the foot and by using the ultrasound he isn't hitting nerves etc which cause the pain. Then he puts in another needle, again it was pain free and using that needle he makes canals in the fasca and in the heal, which allow blood flow which in turn does the healing. It was amazing. I left there with no pain, walked around a fort and lighthouse that afternoon. Had a little tingling that night and also the next day my heel was a bit uncomfortable, which in turn made me walk on my toes and then the next day my calf muscle hurt quite a bit. Now I'm walking with no pain. Today I cleaned carpets and then went shopping with my daughter and now I'm at work with little to no pain. his only restrictions are no running, jumping or as he put it no quick take offs for 6 weeks. He also has another procedure he does. which is called a PRP, if you are not a candidate for this one. I found out about him when I went to visit my daughter in ME and a shoe salesman who is a runner was telling me about him. He had it done three weeks before and the day I met him he ran 10 miles with no pain. Again amazing is all I can say! I tried to find someone in my area or at least closer than 7 hours away but I couldn't find anyone. His name is Dr. Herzog. If you do a google search with the name of the procedure and his name you should find him. His staff is great and his receptionist will give you alot of info. on the procedure. 207.781.9077 is his phone number. I hope this helps some of the plantar fascitis suffers out there. :D

An update, I had this done 5 weeks ago and all is still great. Occasionally if I have done a lot my foot will be a bit achy, more like tired. I'm so glad that I found Dr. Herzog in Maine and made the trip. Please let me know if you have any questions.
