I had one cortisone injection that supposedly included novocaine with the cortisone but it might as well have contained lemon juice as the novocaine never had time to numb my heel since it was mixed with the cortisone. I have a very large tolerance for pain and this was just about one of the worst experiences of my life. I think the problem was that the needle wass making direct contact with the inflamed nerve and it was drawn out and stuck back in multiple times to cover different areas of the heel. I was dropping F-Bombs like I had tourettes syndrome. It helped for about one week then things went back to severe pain again.
I've been struggling with PF for over ten years and it's been intolerable in the last two years. I've had three sets of custom orthotics, been prescribed every anti-inflamitory medication known to man, tried months of physical therapy all to no avail. The only thing that has every helped has been when I was on a large dose of prednisone for a combination ear/sinus infection but even that stopped helping my heels before I finished the prescription.
Needless to say I have EPF surgery scheduled for my worst foot on June 18th.
