prognosis for recovery for long-ignored PF

Postby barton on Fri Aug 21, 2009 10:56 am

I live in New York City and run 7 miles, 3 times a week. I have probably had PF for about a year or more but did not know what it was until recently because the pain never occured when I was running, just in the mornings after getting out of bed. I ingored it because I figured it was just the price of running on concrete. Boy am I sorry I did! 2 weeks ago the pain happened for the first time during a run, and I could barely walk for 2 days. My doctor prescribed Motrin and said stop running for awhile. I am terrified I will not be able to resume running due to returning pain. What is the possibility of permanently damaging the tissue? Someone told me to start seeing a physical therapist -- that they better than doctors would know how to treat it. How long should I wait before trying to run again? What should I do to repair the tissue, if possible? Thanks for any help anyone can give!!

Barton,

I was a long distance runner before I went into the Army and began suffering from this debilitating condition. It has been 3 years since I have been able to run or even walk without pain. TREAT THIS CONDITION NOW! I highly recommend K laser treatments. After all my pain and suffering, cortisone shots, night splints, stretching, pills, icing, and surgery this treatment has brought me some relief! I have only had 2 treatments thus far, but where everything else failed this is working!!!! I am so excited to even have the hope of walking and running again. I can not tell you how awful this ordeal has been for me. I am 28 and it was almost like my life was over at 25. I am now overweight and have to force myself onto a bike for exercise (pure torture!). I have 8 more treatments to undergo and have to option of doing more until the pain is totally gone. These treatments are completely pain free, fast, and easy. I live in California and they run about $75 a treatment here. Not many doctors do this. Try contacting a chiropractor since they tend to be the ones with the proper equipment. If you have any other questions please feel free to email me at EekaM765@aol.com. I would not wish this pain on anyone and if there is any way I can help someone out in regards to PF I will do it :) Good luck!
