Plantar Faciaitis/Heel Spur/Heel Pain

Postby spineda on Mon Nov 10, 2008 12:39 pm

Help. I have a heel spur (confirmed by xray) on my left foot and the podiatrist says I have Plantar Faciaitis. There are all the classic symptoms but the main grief is a continual pain that runs along the left/bottom side of the heel. Cannot find any information of this symptom and physician says its a compensation symptom of the other main issues. Does anyone have the same symptom?

Welcome to the Message board ---

Do you walk on the side of your foot to avoid the heel pain? You may be placing more weight on the outside of your feet to offset the PF. I have pain in the inside of my foot along the outside, but that's a different diagnosis. From what I have learned about PF, it can cause all sorts of problems up the leg and into the back because it throws your frame off balance. What treatment has the dr. recommended? Make sure you start with a good supportive shoe and don't go barefoot -- ever!

Spineda,
Check out the previous posts, you will see varying symptoms with the same diagnosis. I have your symptom also, along with other symptoms. Mine hurts on the outside of my foot all the way down to my toes. It didn't used to hurt there but like Cheryl said, it probably is the way you are walking, that is why mine started hurting on the outside. I was trying to take the pain off the bottom and low and behold, it just started somewhere else along with the bottom!! Hang in there, there are many options available, you just have to stumble on the right one that will work for you. And please check previous posts, there are wonderful people out there willing to share their stories and help.
