I bought the green (higher arch support) super feet inserts from Fleet Feet on Chestnut St. along with new Brooks Addiction shoes (different from my Asics GT model). The shoes were comfortable and the inserts too (I felt the higher arch but it was not too bad and I know it takes some time for feet to get used to new inserts). I ran 6 miles and felt great, however, a day or so later I went to yoga and went into downward dog position and my left heal hurt. I could not push it down to the mat. There was some pain along the back/underside of the heal and up towards my achilles (not towards the center of my foot / the arch area). I have never experienced a pain like this before and I figured it was from my new inserts and shoes. Perhaps I ran too far/fast for my first run in the new gear.
So, I gave myself a few weeks rest and the pain in the heel has dminished. It is almost but not entirely gone.
I then went back to Fleet Feet and they suggested going to the Blue superfeet, lower profile inserts, which I did. I ran about 5 miles in those and the new shoes and feel fine but still do feel some slight pain when I go into a downward dog position and try to push my heal to the floor.
Any concerns?
Is this plantar faciitis?
What should I do?
Thank you.
