Cortisone Shots?

Postby patc on Wed Dec 24, 2008 2:46 pm

Can anyone give me any guidance on whether or not cortisone shots provide relief? I have an appointment with a podiatrist next Monday and am considering requesting one. I've been in excruciating pain for months now and have tried several different things to relieve it...specialty wraps, supports, stretching exercises before trying to walk in the morning. I'm becoming desperate! My son is getting married in just ten days and I have to be able to walk through the church and then dance with him at the reception...with this pain, it's not going to be very enjoyable, that's for sure. I've had a cortisone injection in my shoulder before and was amazed at how well it worked, but I've seen more mixed feelings in the posts here. What exactly are the pros and cons? And is there anything I need to be aware of while I'm in my doctors office? Any specific questions I need to be aware of?

Thanks!

I tried the shot in one of my feet and the only thing I can say is it did help for a couple days but only a little and the shot hurt like nothing I've had before. I too am trying desperately to find something to help me.

I had two cortisone shots. They helped for a day and then it was back to excruciating pain. I wish I had a good suggestion but I don't.

Cortisone doesn't work for everyone, and I' haven't seen good results for it's use in PF.
