Just arch pain....still PF???

Postby riley71198 on Sat Mar 07, 2009 6:52 pm

Hi all,

I've had PF since May '08. According to my foot doctor, it could take up to 1 year to heal completely. I've done PT for it and I guess I could say the exercises helped some, but nothing huge. I also have a night splint that I wear on occassion. I am forced to wear either my Dansko clogs or my Mizuno tennis shoes from when I wake up to when I go to bed. I'm sick and tired of wearing shoes ALL DAY LONG!!!

My question is, I was reading other PF posts on here and a lot of them talked about heel pain. I do get heel pain every once in awhile when the PF seems to "flair up", but for the most part all of my pain is in both of my arches. If I'm wearing my shoes, I typically don't have any pain. But, if I go barefoot for too long, then my arches begin to ache. Does it sound like it's still PF or not since it's mainly in my arches?? Prior to May '08 I've never had any foot problems and I used to go barefoot all the time.

Thank you for your help! I, along with most of you probably, am SICK AND TIRED of PF causing me problems!!

Laura,

This sounds more like your arches are falling than PF. It would still be smart to stretch, but rebuilding the muscles to support the arch is a better long term goal. Follow this link for an excellent article:
