Is it Barefeet Pain?

Postby tporter on Mon Oct 13, 2008 7:23 am

Occasionally (about once a month) my right heel starts to hurt towards the end of the weekend. I am an avid "barefoot" person when I am at home on the weekends. Growing up in Southern California, it was just common practice to go barefoot. I don't have morning heel pain or anything like that, my heel just starts to hurt worse and worse during the weekend and wonder if I am causing inflammation from going barefoot and is this an early symptom of plantars fasciitis? And if so will it help if I stop going around without shoes, or will this problem get worse no matter what I do?

You have indeed identified the the most likely cause of your end of the weekend heel pain. Over a lifetime your feet which are supported by your arch take a terrific beating. Eventually the constant stretching, elongation of the arch catches up with us and support becomes a necessity. Try these two probable solutions and you should be your old self in no time. 1) take a bath towel and put it on the floor while watching TV grabbing the towel with your toes repeatedly to exercise and re-tighten your arch muscels for 4 to 6 weeks. 2) use a support like HTP heel seats in all your footwear ALL the time. No bare feet for now.
Feel good and let us all know how you make out.
